Caption Adjudication

The purpose of this task is to determine whether captions or subjects have been transcribed correctly or incorrectly in a previous HIT.

Select Correct if the Caption has been transcribed correctly

Select Incorrect if the Caption has not been transcribed correctly

Select This image is invalid if there is no Caption on the info card.


 It is worth familiarising yourself with the instructions for the previous HIT you are voting on. See below. 
The Information Card is laid out as below 

  • Some captions may be handwritten, make sure what you transcribe makes sense, it may be just a name.
  • Handwritten captions often contain the following info D - (the Date of the Picture) S -  (The Subject THIS IS THE CAPTION) and P- (Photographer).
  • If the caption presented to you is in the form of an Article only transcribe the first and/or second paragraphs.
  • If the caption presented to you is in the form of a Media Release or Photo Release only transcribe the first and/or second paragraphs.
  • If the caption presented to you is in the form of a team roster only transcribe opposing team names and any venue information
  • If you spot a spelling mistake please try to correct it, however you will not have work rejected if you fail to spot a spelling mistake and enter words as seen.


Tag Tips

  • Captions will mostly be handwritten please ensure that you have correctly transcribed the information and keep an eye out for typos.
  • Do not Transcribe 'S:' before each caption we do not need this information.
  • Do not Transcribe any photographer and date information or scan and order numbers
  • We recommend using Chrome, Firefox or Safari web browsers. We do not recommend" using IE browser.
Task Tips
  • Use your cursor to create a bounding box around theCaption in the image.
  • You will then be presented with a zoomed view of the selected area with a field to Transcribe the Caption.
  • Once transcribed click submit and move on to the next image.
  • You can navigate and rotate through the images using the toolbox and keyboard shortcuts.
  • When you have completed all images you are able to review and make any corrections prior to submitting.
